Henning is a geographer, environmental scientist and artist specializing in critical environmental geography and ecological design as well as sonic arts and experimental imaging.
In the CryoCultures project, his research focuses on the cartographies of the artificial cold and developing an digital atlas of the cryosphere.
Before joining CryoCultures, Henning was the co-director of an artistic research lab at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, blending ecological knowledge, critical visualization and artistic practice. Since 2019 he runs his own artistic studio working between sound, experimental imaging/video art and material cultures.
Henning has a hybrid academic background studying geography and environmental sciences at ETH Zürich, University Marburg and University Freiburg as well a multimedia arts and mediadramaturgy at Burg Halle University of Art and Design and the University of Cambridge, UK.
